International Budget Partnership Game Fight poverty and improve the lives of poor

International Budget Partnership Game

The International Budget Partnership (IBP) Game is an online, scenario based learning game designed by Formula-D for the International Budget Partnership, where players travel to the imaginary country of Polarus. The user takes on the role of an intern working for SeDeN, a budget advocacy organisation. The task is to investigate whether public resources are being used to fight poverty and improve the lives of poor and marginalised people. Users explore development problems, find out how government budgets affect developments and learn how to build successful strategies for change.

Skipjack developed an API using amfPHP and MySQL technologies, which allows new players to register and login, and keeps track of player accomplishments and scores as they progress through the game. A custom-built CMS allows administrators to manage users and generate reports.
